HMC News – May 2026
The wait is almost over! HMC Plumsicles™ are right around the corner. Start setting your ads now for our favorite fruit of the summer. Plumsicles are super sweet, with a little tang, creating a piece of fruit that isn’t just sugary, but packed full of flavor. The bright and fun packaging is a mere preview of the beautiful speckled exterior and deep red interior of this fruit.

It feels like summer in more ways than one this May. As we near the start of June we will be packing almost all commodities of tree fruit, both conventional and organic. We also prepare to move into triple digit heat that our tree fruit thrives in. Cool downs will slow the development and maturity of the fruit and excessive heat will stall the fruit for a day or two.

Throughout the summer and beyond we receive emails and comments from consumers telling us how much they love our Plumsicles. The quote below is just one of the testimonials from the fan mail we receive all season long.
“I just purchased my 5th bag. I have enjoyed every bite. They go super fast in the store. The first time I found them & tried them @ home went back the next day to buy another bag, there were none left.” – Angela

Our most intensive table grape jobs are currently underway. As the grapes grow and berries shatter, we work through each vine to
provide an environment for optimal growth. This is done by hanging strong bunches, dropping weak bunches, tipping straggly bunches, and thinning out any unnecessary extra growth. It is a race to cross everything as quickly as we can before the grapes size up. If we fall behind, the work becomes much more tedious and slow, but on a year as early as this it is hard to stay ahead. This is the time of year where grapes go through an exponential growth phase, so it’s nice to have some consistent weather without a lot of heat spikes.

Our tree fruit continues to be approximately two weeks ahead of last year on all commodities and varieties. It should be noted, last
year was one of our earliest years on record, so when we compare this season to a “typical” season, we are almost a full month
ahead. This means that peak season volume and flavor is available for both conventional and organic tree fruit. Our Plumsicle™
harvest is expected to start two weeks earlier than last year, meaning that everyone’s favorite fruit should be available early
June!
