Tree Fruit Update
HMC is looking to start picking SuperRich peaches on Monday May 10th, which is about 4 days later then last year. Peaches began coloring up on Monday which historically means we are about 2 weeks away from the first pick of the season.
Table Grape Update
Grape crop looks healthy and is tracking for about six or seven days later than last year.
Cold Front Delays Crop
The last few days have felt more like March then a few days before May. Last week’s heat wave was fleeting. Over the weekend temperatures dipped back into the 60’s and have continued to stay cool through Tuesday. The cooler weather has set our harvest back about 4 days in relation to last year. This could still change though, a few warm days like we experienced last week would set us back on track for an on time pick. Suppliers should be warned that with the freeze and these fluctuating temperatures, there is a high possibility that volumes throughout the industry will be smaller.
