The way we see it, the industry volume should be similar to last year.
The overall plum crop is hit and miss with light volume on some varieties and full volume on others. Around mid May we should start our tree ripened varieties that are similar in taste to our mid season peaches and nectarines.
Thinning for tree fruit started the beginning of April and should continue into the end of May.
After last week’s storm we believe everyone experienced some light hail; not enough to do any significant damage, but we are not out of the weather yet. Thunderstorms are predicted for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. We will give you an update from those storms this Friday.
The weather is still a little too early to affect the grape vines. Shoot thinning on table grapes started the middle of last week and should continue on into Mid May.
