HMC Farms Update 6/23/2010

We are now into the summer volumes and varieties. Sizes are down a bit from last year with peaches peaking on average at 48/50 and nectarines at 56’s.
Varieties currently available for tree fruit are:
Peaches – Earlirich, Country Sweet and Rich Lady

Nectarines – Diamond Bright and Spring Bright
 
White Peaches – Ivory Princess, Snow [...]

Heavy rain last week, but no hail was spotted.  The forecast this week is for rain tonight and maybe tomorrow.  Once the rain is gone there is a high pressure system moving in which means it should stay warm the next 10 to 12 days.

The way we see it, the industry volume should be similar to last year.
The overall plum crop is hit and miss with light volume on some varieties and full volume on others. Around mid May we should start our tree ripened varieties that are similar in taste to our mid season peaches and nectarines.

The buds are blossoming and here at HMC Farms we are slowly shifting from winter to spring. The winter is the time our trees rest and recoup for the upcoming tree fruit season. New Grafts – HMC Farms Update 3/9/10
